Nokia N97 Features

Nokia has launched the Nokia N97, the world’s most advanced mobile that will transform the way people connect to the Internet and to each other. The N97 mobile phone carves a new space in the otherwise blurred realm between smartphone and laptop.

Designed for the needs of Internet-savvy consumers, the Nokia N97 combines a large 3.5″ touch display with a full QWERTY keyboard, providing an ‘always open’ window to favorite social networking sites and Internet destinations.

With integrated A-GPS sensors and an electronic compass, the Nokia N97 mobile computer intuitively understands where it is. The Nokia N97 makes it easy to update social networks automatically with real-time information, giving approved friends the ability to update their ’status’ and share their ’social location’ as well as related pictures or videos.

The N97 enters the fray stomaching 32GB of on-board storage, double that of any mobile device currently in existence, and can take up to another 16GB via microSD, enabling it to become a portable multi-media computer with 48GB in the pocket. The Nokia N97 also has a 5-Megapixel camera with high-quality Carl Zeiss optics, 16:9 and DVD quality video capture, and support for services like Share on Ovi for immediate sharing over HSDPA and WLAN.

Just found this blog after doing a search on whether the n97 has FULL flash support? Not just the flash lite kit. After searching around I’m still really not clear on this point and it would be the make or break for me on this phone. I’m looking for a fully integrated device that can play flash 9 video, as far as I’m aware this doesn’t exist tin the mobile world. Can someone who has used the n97 enlighten me?

  2. response on February 9th, 2009 at 5:21 pm

If you go back to the specs, it says it only has flash lite 3.0 as the 96 and 95. I think everyone is waiting for full flash on a mobile device.

what is the sliding lock key for and where is theslot for mini sd card?

  5. ksk on March 19th, 2009 at 6:44 am

    Memory

    Up to 48GB
    32GB Internal Memory
    16GB MicroSD Expansion Slot
I guess there is a mini SD card slot , but what is heartening is 32GB internal memory

After reading some reviews on the N97 I am concerned about the processor speed. Does this present a potential problem for N97? I would appreciate any response to my inquiry.

    Thank you,

    DJ

I will be in The States in a few weeks and I noticed that the US model of the N97 is much cheaper than the Dutch model plus in the US it comes with a free Bluetooth headset.

Do you think I would run into any problems using a US model N97 as opposed to the Dutch model? I read something about internet speed stating that the US model may not support the European internet speed. Could you think of any reason why I would be better off purchasing the European model?

    Thanks,
    JOHN

    John

You may well run into problems. Certainly the N96 was a different model for the US than in Europe.

Lots of good points here. I tried an iphone, and I wasn’t all that impressed. Maybe the N97 will be worthwhile.

  37. dean on May 31st, 2010 at 7:49 am

Iv been using the phone since it was launched; to be honest its not impressive. Office features are limited; networking is limited and the processor is too slow…..really slow!
The best smart phones out there right now…….blackberry and htc by far..wih processor speeds up to 1gb what more would you want!
