More information about the N97 Mini has come out since images of the device leaked a week ago. A person who has seen the device asserts that it will essentially have the same feature set as the current N97, though a smaller form factor. The smaller size means the removal of some of the N97’s features such as the directional pad on the sliding QWERTY keyboard and the lens cover over the dual-LED equipped, 5 MPx digital camera.

According to this source, the Nokia N97 Mini will come in two configurations, with either 8 GB or 16 GB of storage, with an accompanying price reduction — early estimates put the N97 Mini starting at about 100 Euros cheaper than the full N97. The person who says he has already seen the device, Eldar Murtazin of Mobile Review, also states that it will be formally announced during the Nokia World expo happening in September. This is not unreasonable, as it’s common for Nokia to announce and/or release a number of models during this exposition.

Nokia N97 and Samsung Omnia HD i8910 are the two mobiles that hit the global mobile market recently. These two mobiles have many common features and also have many differences. These two mobiles have the touchscreen facility to bring the users to the next generation interface. The dimension of these two mobiles varies from each other. This difference will help the users who care for the appearance of the mobile to make a selection from these two mobiles. The display of the Nokia N97 is about 3.5 inches which is slightly lesser than the Samsung Omnia HD i8910 mobiles which has the display about 3.7 inches diagonally. This makes the user who wants to have a greater display mobile to select the Samsung Omnia HD i8910 mobile.

Samsung Omnia i8910 works in the famous fifth edition Symbian S60 Operating system. But in deep it also makes use of its own interface in order to enhance the working capability of the mobile. This makes the Samsung Omnia i8910 to face the problem of slow down in the process. This collaboration between the Symbian S60 and the own interface of the Samsung makes the machine to cause delay in opening the application. Nokia N97 also uses this Symbian S60 Operating system but it does not makes this operating to make collaboration with any other personal interface of Nokia. Nokia N97 also had some process done internally to overcome the delay produced by this operating system. This makes the Nokia N97 to have a better speed and performance than the Samsung Omnia i8910 mobiles.

Everyone use to send e-mails from their mobiles and this makes the users to look for the keyboard. In this situation Nokia N97 will be better to use because of the full QWERTY keyboard which is available in this mobile. But the Samsung Omnia i8910 mobile does not have such keyboard facility because the developers concentrated only to develop a very good touchscreen interface. They thought this touchscreen interface is capable of replacing the keypad facility as a whole. This makes this mobile less popular than the Nokia N97 mobiles.

Nokia N97 entered the mobile gallery after few months after the Samsung Omnia i8910. This entrance makes the good competition for the Samsung Omnia i8910 mobiles. Another important aspect that mobile lovers concentrate on is that memory capacity. The Omnia HD mobiles has a very good internal memory capacity which is of about 256MB but this mobile is capable of extending the memory up to 32GB but the N97 mobiles are capable to hold data of about 42GB. Everyone will feel hard to fill the memory of such capacities and so this criterion will not help the user to choose the mobile between these two models. But the requirement of full keyboard facility will make the user to go for Nokia N97 mobile.
Samsung Omnia i8910 mobile holds 8MP camera which makes the camera lovers to have their eyes on this mobile. Nokia N97 also has the camera with the capacity of 5MP. The clarity in Nokia is almost equally compared to the clarity of the Samsung mobiles. Nokia N97 has the facility to go for ten snaps continuously at the moment. Therefore both mobiles are comparatively same when considering the feature of the camera. The price of these two mobiles is almost same but the outdoor facility, full keyboard facility and the memory storage facility of Nokia N97 makes the user feel that this mobile is comfortable than the Samsung Omnia i8910 mobile.

Nokia N97 and HTC Touch Pro2 are the two smartphones that reached the mobile market with lot of similarities between them. These two phones have similar slide and tilt appearance along with the full QWERTY keyboards in them. Nokia N97 has the display with the screen resolution of about 360*640 with the screen of 3.5 inches in diagonal whereas HTC Touch Pro2 has the screen of 3.6 inches diagonally with the resolution of about 480*800. The screen size of the HTC Touch Pro2 is slightly greater than the Nokia N97 and so you can expect HTC Touch phone to have a better resolution and graphics display.

Nokia N97 has the operating system called Symbian S60 whereas HTC Touch phone runs on the Windows Mobile 6.1 professional operating system. Now lets compare the internal and external memory available in these two phones. Nokia N97 has 32 GB storage, 128 MB RAM (with option of external memory microSD (Max up to 16GB)) whereas the HTC Touch pro2 provides only 512MB ROM / 288MB RAM (with option of external memory microSD (Max up to 32GB)). Nokia measures about 117.2mm length, 55.3mm width and 15.9mm thickness and HTC Touch phone is almost 117mm in length, 59.2mm in width and has thickness about 17.25mm. Nokia N97 weighs about 150 grams and HTC Touch phone weighs about 175 grams. This makes Nokia N97 comfortable for the users when it is in their hands.

Both Nokia N97 and HTC Touch phone has the same facility on the networking front. These two phones offers wide range of facilities like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, quad band GSM, GPRS, EDGE, 3G technology with HSDPA, WCDMA. HTC Touch Pro2 smartphones has the facility to connect with the external devices like computer and modem through the HTC ExtUSB. This USB acts as an 11-pin mini-USB 2.0 port, an audio jack and also a TV output. Nokia N97 also has a TV output, a 32mm audio jack and a microUSB jack. Both the model has FM radio but Nokia N97 was provided with inbuilt stereo speakers.

Nokia N97 was built up with a camera of quality 5Megapixel camera at the same time the HTC Touch Pro2 smartphones has the camera of the capacity 3.2 MP along with another VGA camera at the front side of the mobile. Nokia also has the double LED torch integrated into it. Nokia is the famous mobile company and also it exercise lot of pressures over the designers to make the user interface to be very interactive. This same feature was implemented in this Nokia N97 also by providing many options for the users to set up the menu in the mobile. When this features compared with the HTC Touch Pro2 smartphones Nokia N97 will be better.

Nokia N97 is the second model in the Nokia gallery with the touch screen interface also this mobile was designed to work in Symbian S60 operating system. Basically the mobiles working with this operating system will be slow in opening the application. But this is not the case in this Nokia N97. This mobile is working in lightening speed to open the selected application. HTC Touch Pro2 smartphones works in the Windows operating system so this mobile was normally fast in opening the applications.

Mostly these two mobiles are having almost same features and the quality but the price tag with these mobiles are different because the materials of these mobiles are different. When the customer is looking to bid a lower price mobile in these two mobiles then they can go for the HTC Touch Pro2 mobile. This is because of its wide availability and their subsidization. HTC mobiles provide three years of service agreement for this mobile user. Nokia is little bit costlier than the HTC Touch phone and the important thing is that Nokia is trying to gain the benefits of American market so they are offering discounts which make them affordable for the customers.

When you are planning an investment in something costly like a high end cell phone, it definitely makes sense for you to look around and then make a decision. After all today there are so many advantages, in what you can compare and how you can look over the internet or talk to your friends and then make the final choice. If you do this, you can ensure that you don’t regret your choice at a later point in time and also you would know what is in store for you in your phone. If you know what you are buying then you are sure to be happy.

There are two main contenders in the fray today – the Nokia N97, and the Sony Xperia X1. While these are both very good phones, the N97, seems to somewhere have the edge over the Xperia. It is indeed a tough choice, but like we said, the N97 is the clear choice – take the camera feature, the memory or any other feature – there is hardly anything that N97 does not boast of in comparison with the Xperia. While we can go on and on, let’s just focus on a few major points that will help you pull the curtain on the Xperia and go ahead with your choice of the N97.

The camera on the N97 just beats its whole class of contenders. If you ask me why, nobody gives you a five mega pixel camera on such a good phone for this kind of cost. Look at our friend the Xperia, the cost is much higher and the feature is much lesser – so it is pretty much like you are in an altogether loss situation. You pay more to get less. With the N97 camera phone, you can click away to glory all the pictures that you’ve been dreaming of all along. It’s that easy.

If you are somebody who is fond of storing music or photos, then the N97 again beats the competition by a clear mile. While the Xperia gives you a humble four hundred mega bytes, the N97 talks of a base of thirty two GB that can be extended to about sixteen GB – seeing these figures, we are sure you know what a sea of difference this is – the storage freak that you are! So, again getting back to our point, you’ll pay more to store less or pay less to store more – so again your choice is our very own N97!

The cost factor is one major point that gives the N97 the edge over most of the mobiles of its genre and cadre. Nokia has gone all the way to prove their point again – they can give you better results for modest prices unlike their rivals – Sony Ericson to be very precise. Though both these phones came into the market after the iphone, the N97 has already started showing signs that it is here to stay for a long time in the field of mobile phones.

Basic outlook of the models Nokia N97 and HTC Touch HD

The Nokia N97 is termed as the next generation higher end mobile phone being manufactured from the Nokia. This version of the phone is being termed as the hand held computer the technical people who are working the nokia and the comfortableness of the product is on the very high side. This Nokia N97 also boasts of being the first Nokia phone with the QWERTY keyboard. The stand out feature of this mobile is that the mobile has 32 GB of the memory space which is capable of being extended to 42 GB with the use of type 16 GB memory card. The phone is designed in a perfect manner such that it is very easy hold and also very easy to use phone. The HTC Touch HD had created a lot of hype among the people prior to the release of the product. The features in this phone include the 5 MP cameras, GPS, Wi-fi and the screen of the mobile is a massive 3.8 touch screen display. The specification of the both the phones are so good that the comparison between these two is a very tough ask.

Design of the handsets and the durability

Both the models have the option of being available in either the 2 G version and also they are available in the 3 G version. The HTC Touch HD comes with the 288 MB RAM and also has 512 MB ROM. But the research says the tilting mechanism in the HTC Touch HD is better than that of the Nokia N97. The Nokia N97 is very sleekly model than that of the HTC Touch HD and is well equipped to serve for the corporate purpose in which the size of the equipment becomes a very important factor. But there might be a problem in the durability level of the Nokia N97 since the tilting action applies large amount of the pressure on the plastic region of the hinges and some have suspected it to be a drawback in this Nokia N97

Screen resolutions and the connectivity of the models

The Nokia N97 has a screen size of the 3.5 inch, the HTC Touch HD has 3.8 inch screen, both of the mobiles have a very good type of the wide display screen., but when it comes to the resolution of the model, the HTC Touch HD has definite edge over the Nokia N97 since the image and also the movie viewing has more quality in the HTC Touch HD than the Nokia N97 owing to the better pixel rate which is seen in the mobile. Whereas the Nokia has a definite edge in the connectivity such as the GPRS since the speed of the connectivity is much good.

The final verdict

The comparison between these models is a very close one. The enhance symbion version of the Nokia N97 has a better performance levels. The resolution of the HTC touch HD is greater than the Nokia. The cost of the product is good for both the ones. But due to its greater application, the Nokia N97 has a marginal advantage over the HTC Touch HD.

The Nokia N97 is creating waves in the cell phone market today – ensuring that it is the choice of the privileged, knowledge and educated business class; we don’t entirely blame the public for running behind the N97. It definitely has a lot of positives to its piggy and it would have been a surprise had this phone not turned out to be a show stopper. I had been looking for a classy phone for some time that could have been my pride and the onlooker’s envy and the answer was in the N97 that I am waiting to purchase. I would personally rate it the best decision of my life!

What threw me off the handle was the price – simply mind blowing. While I am all set to burn a whole in my pocket I was stunned to see the price tag. If for example you compare it with the Palm Pre it comes much cheaper and to be very honest, I did have second thoughts on what it would mean on the quality of the mobile. But the research that I did just went on to prove, that there will be nothing absolutely against me buying the N97 – Nokia is proving to be user friendly yet again!

The camera on the N97 is incomparable with anything else that that anybody else can offer on a mobile. The Palm pre will provide you only a 3.1 mega pixel camera, whereas the N97 will give you clearer resolution thanks to its five mega pixel camera – I am just waiting to take snaps just about everything and anything as I’ve been hearing the greatness of this camera time and again now. I simply can’t wait to lay my hands on the N97 – the pride of my life!

Data entry is another great feature that you need to talk of when you are discussing the N97. You have a normal QWERTY keyboard and if you don’t feel like typing, you can either write or use the onscreen keyboard – that is Nokia’s way of giving you choice and variety in life. If you go in for a Palm pre, unfortunately you will just have to use the QWERTY keyboard like every other normal phone – it is a great disappointment indeed. Using the handwriting option will also help give a personal touch when you have to send those special messages!

All said and done, the memory is the clearly the best asset of the N97. With a baffling 32 GB that hardly anybody offers, Nokia is clearly a trendsetter. You can just keep storing stuff without even looking back and the closest the Palm pre can get to you is to offer one fourth of what the N97 is offering. Yes – the palm pre comes with a 8 GB memory built into the phone. This makes the Palm pre play the role of a second fiddle to the N97. For the N97, it seems to be a race won well enough, a race won with a big span of difference!

Are you a cell phone freak looking out for that is providing you the best value for money? Should you go in for the stylish yet reliable Nokia N97 that has hit the market and is already making waves or not, you’ll need to read on to know more. In this feature we bring to you why you should go in for the Nokia N97 and what makes it stand out amongst the others – for a simple comparison we tell you why this is better and far more superior when we compare it with the Apple 3G iphone.

The keyboard on the N97 is an outright differentiator. All you have on the3G iphone is a virtual keyboard that you can see on the screen and use the touch screen option to key in. This is a definite problem especially if you are not comfortable typing – you’ll see that you will take a whole lot of time on that. That is not the case with your N97. All you have to do is slide your phone and you’ll have a full fledged keyboard – the QWERTY type one on your phone. So that you make messaging hassle free compared to the iphone.

The look, display, features, and other provisions like camera and other sound provisions are all pretty much advanced on the N97, for the price that is charged for the phone, I would only say that they’ve done good justice. That’s what we mean by the Nokia advantage – giving the customer the best at a nominal rate. In fact, if you just want to look at one aspect, you will find that while the iphone has a 2 Mega Pixel Camera, our very own N97 boasts of a 5 MP camera –if you are intelligent enough we are sure you will bet on the N97 now!

The memory of the N97 is far more extended than any other phone in the market today. You can even call this the second to none phone in terms of memory comparison. Thanks to the 32GB memory that the phone has, there is absolutely no comparison in the near vicinity. This vast memory that the N97 possesses is definitely something that it has to its advantage, all the more the reason that no other phone is thinking of this facility. A good niche in the market, this memory factor of the N97 turns out to be- and we might have to wait and see if this works wonders for the N97.

Nokia has launched the Nokia N97, the world’s most advanced mobile that will transform the way people connect to the Internet and to each other. The N97 mobile phone carves a new space in the otherwise blurred realm between smartphone and laptop.

Designed for the needs of Internet-savvy consumers, the Nokia N97 combines a large 3.5″ touch display with a full QWERTY keyboard, providing an ‘always open’ window to favorite social networking sites and Internet destinations.

With integrated A-GPS sensors and an electronic compass, the Nokia N97 mobile computer intuitively understands where it is. The Nokia N97 makes it easy to update social networks automatically with real-time information, giving approved friends the ability to update their ’status’ and share their ’social location’ as well as related pictures or videos.

The N97 enters the fray stomaching 32GB of on-board storage, double that of any mobile device currently in existence, and can take up to another 16GB via microSD, enabling it to become a portable multi-media computer with 48GB in the pocket. The Nokia N97 also has a 5-Megapixel camera with high-quality Carl Zeiss optics, 16:9 and DVD quality video capture, and support for services like Share on Ovi for immediate sharing over HSDPA and WLAN.

The new Nokia N97 smart phone is one of the priciest mobile devices out there. It is so powerful that Nokia is not simply referring to it as a cell phone - or even a smart phone. No, they have deemed this new device to be a “mobile computer”. It’s packed with many advanced gadgets that James Bond himself would be happy to have, but despite the powerhouse of features, this phone isn’t marketed as an “amazing touchscreen device” (though the touchscreen does work just fine).

It seems that touchscreen smart phones are the current trend right now. Ever since Apple, the trend setters of technology, came out with the iPhone, almost every single mainstream phone has had a direct knock-off of Apple’s design. Well, Nokia most definitely isn’t jumping on this bandwagon. Though their phone does pack many of the same features as the iPhone, and does incorporate a touchscreen, it also has a full pull-out QWERTY keyboard, and is not taking on the same marketing method that its competitors are.

The Nokia N97 is simply the newest phone in their line of products based on the S60 platform. The 3.5 inch touchscreen display offers digital real estate never before seen on a cell phone. The resolution is 640 by 360 pixels, which is close to the resolution many full sized desktop computers were offering 10 years ago. This makes web browsing with its built-in, unrestricted web browser a breeze. Integrated social networking utilities update your MySpace and Facebook information right from the main page.

You’re not restricted to simply viewing mobile websites. The fully functional integrated web browser can view practically any website that a desktop computer could, since it IS the same type of browser used on full sized computers. The Nokia N97 has so much power that it can render sites and individual pages quicker than any other smart phone. Combine this with 3G connectivity, and you have pretty much died and gone to heaven.

A full web browser isn’t the only notable software the Nokia N97 comes with. Nokia Maps is included as well, which gives you access to national and local maps whenever you need them. The Nokia N97 also has a widgets system with many applications to choose from.

The Nokia N97 is not unusually large, small, or out of the ordinary in the way of dimensions. As a phone with a sliding keyboard, it is a little thicker than phones that do not have a physical keyboard - but it is directly comparable to the thickness of phones of the same type. It is just under 16 mm thick for the most part, to give you an idea of how this phone would feel in your pocket. In addition to this thickness, the camera area will jut out another 2 mm or so. In your hand, the phone feels very well balanced, and does not seem too large or small in any way. While it may not be the most comfortable phone to carry around in your pocket all day due to the thickness, that is about the only gripe one could come up with as far as size is concerned.

The target market for this phone is definitely the younger crowd who want a modern, powerful phone but prefer features and capability to trendiness and brand name wow-factor. Due to the unique powerful characteristics and the sky-high asking price, anyone who buys this phones has to be into gadgets, phones, or simply be someone who loves having the latest and greatest.

Now that we have covered some of the best details about the Nokia N97, it’s time to take a look at what you’ve all been waiting for. The Apple iPhone is the current undisputed king-of-the-hill when it comes to smart phones, and every phone of this kind has been compared to it at one point or another.

Let’s start off with first impressions. At first glance, the phones are physically pretty similar. The iPhone has a more recognizable design, but not necessarily a better looking one. The Nokia N97 looks sleek and powerful, and has that real “super-powerful gadget feel”.

Speaking of super powers, let’s discuss price that soars sky-high. This is where the iPhone will immediately take the lead. The Nokia N97 is perhaps the most expensive mainstream smart phone available, with a tag of around $700 without a contract discount. Even with a contract price, the total only drops a little bit, leaving it hundreds of dollars behind the iPhone’s reasonable rate.

The next category is where the Nokia N97 jumps ahead: Physical features. The iPhone comes in 4GB, 8GB and 16GB models, and does not offer a slot for memory cards. The Nokia N97, on the other hand, does stay true to it’s name of a “mobile computer”. The internal memory is 32GB, and that comes standard on the phone - there is no sub-model that offers less storage. In addition to the internal space, expandable memory card slots can hold data cards of up to 16GB in size, to store music, photos, or videos. That’s a total storage limit of 48GB, which blows any other device clean out of the water.

Another technical advantage the Nokia N97 has over the iPhone is the ability to display Flash files and the Flash-based videos that power sites such as YouTube. This is one of the iPhone’s biggest weaknesses. While it can play YouTube videos using its integrated player, no other flash files can be used.

Internally, the Nokia N97 has build in Bluetooth connectivity, which the iPhone lacks. It also comes with a built in GPS system, which only newer versions of the iPhone are equipped with. They both have built in wi-fi for high-speed use at home or any hot-spot. Overall, the Nokia N97 is a more powerful than the iPhone - but the price tag is nearly three times as much when comparing post-service contract pricing. So far, it looks to be a promising alternative to many of the mainstream phones - just so long as you have a pocketbook thick enough to absorb all the dollar signs.
